James was the husband of Mrs Sinclair 114 South Street, Armadale.

 

James was posted missing at Singapore in February 1942, he was later found to be a prisoner of war in Japanese hands in Malai Camp.

 

 

James, who was the son of Mr and Mrs A Sinclair, Atlas Cottages, Armadale, joined the Army in September 1940. In civilian life James was employed as an agent with the Refuge Assurance Coy Ltd.

Hugh was the son of Mr and Mrs William Smith 122 Lower Bathville, Armadale.

Hugh received his training under the Empire Air Training Scheme in Canada and the United States, returning to Britain at the beginning of 1943.

 

 

Hugh was a well known runner, and had won the ten mile handicap at powderhall Edinburgh, and finishing third in the scratch event.
